re:  PFG NORTHCENTER:  "To 7855 responding to my rumors at this site. Once again you take a defensive position and you do not dispute my reporting. If Bill Bolton is the hero you make him out to be than why do all we hear are excuses for not making goal for the past many years? Why do we hear a different idea or approach to a problem every time we have a meeting? Why are account managers treated differently? So instead of responding as you do  just please respond to the facts. We have sent other e-mails to this site as to how we feel morale can change and savings can also be made. I am glad that someone reads these rumors now just please respond to the facts so that we can once again feel pride in our leadership."

re:  USF ALBANY:  "You hit the nail on the head with your comments about Speed being a liar, etc.  This type of comment has been going on since he arrived in Albany by people that work there and have worked there as well as colleagues and peer in the US Food family.
It's just about unanimous.   How does he get away with it?  Comments please.  Where is corporate on this.  No organization gets away with the kind of turnover he has."

america's nightmare is over ... rogue bartender sentenced

re: USF SAN DIEGO/7856 - "In case you haven't figured it out, Corporate DOES NOT care. Neither do KKR or CD&R. La Mirada is in a shambles. The new post-lawsuit commission program has cost most TMs 20% or more in lost commission. Instead of getting 2.5% or more of the gross, most of us are at 1.5% to 2%. "But, you're getting mileage and EB now," we're told. All I know is that I've had some of the lowest commission payouts since I was a rookie many years ago. Management makes a lot of noise about reviewing the commission program, but I'm sure nothing will come of it. I can't wait for Monday 8/30, when we go out and try to use EDGE.
IT'S A GREAT DAY AT U.S. FOODSERVICE!"

re:  DSM OF THE YEAR:  "I thought you were talking about the other AM from USF - your RSM until I read further and saw Alan M. Did you guys reward him DSM of the Year? Both were washed up, occassionaly polished, mostly tarnished politicians while at USF and had no choice to leave and go to SYCO for their days were numbered and they knew it. It is nice to no longer hear there voices for they were always full of crap and BS. Only a person blind and deaf would be without opinion. Good luck to you and I no longer feel your pain. Maybe buy some some ear plugs, dark sunglasses, mask and boots to avoid the sounds, sight, germs and bullsh*t."

ammonia leak at chicken plant

re:  PFG NORTHCENTER:  "This is an open letter to Greg Piper at Northcenter Foods.
Greg we all know that within the near future you will need to cut expenses as a result of your branch once again failing to make top line sales so here are some ideas to cut expenses that the sales force for the most part will gladly accept. Let's start from the top and work down.
Tell Larry Davis it is time to retire as no one has confidence in him to keep things held in confidence. Give the job to Joyce and if need be Lorie can pick up the slack since she has so much time available based on all the time she spends with Amy.Second get rid of Bill Bolton as once again he has lost most of the account managers confidence. Give the job to Fred and eliminate his position. Make the          District Managers work in the field with the account managers at least 4 days per week and hold them responsible for the success or failure in their district rather than waiting until the end of the month to read reports and make excuses.
Eliminate or replace the current trainer Mark Michaud as he has all the new account managers confused with all his various lies and finger pointing. The man can not take responsibility for his failures.
Lastly tell Pete Parker it is time to retire as he is the last of the specialists and the least effective. He can do a great job only to have the account manager lose the business if the compitetion drops their price by a nickle or so a pound. The other specialists could show substained growth and they were all let go. If an account manager needs help let one of the buyers make a sales call to assist.
These moves should save in excess of $300,000.00 and also turn the morale around within the company.
Mark my words that the account managers will rebel in small ways to show their disgust with the current line up of losers. When was the last time Northcenter made their annual sales goal?"

egg recall up to half billion

re:  PFG NORTHCENTER:  "It does not matter if Bill Bolton is pushing 300 pounds or if he were 175 pounds, the fact is that he is a terrible VP of Sales and Greg Piper for some reason is keeping him in that position. The man has lost the sales team and just watch in the coming months all the salesmans requests to take vacation time the week that a sales meeting is planned or call in sick.Dennis Paper, Sysco and US are eating our lunch. As a group we talk and we find the current leadership is very weak. A trainer like Mark Michaud who does not know the truth if it bit him the ass has got the new salesman so confused as he tells each one something different when they are alone. Mark we talk and your lies are very clear, but as long as Bolton listens to what he wants to hear your lies will continue.
Greg do you want us to write about Larry Davis and the fact that you can not tell him anything in confidence? Where are we to turn with our concerns? Until changes are made Northcenter salesman will use this public forum to air our problems!!!"

egg salmonella likely to grow

smuckers $ up

re:  USF SAN DIEGO:  "USF is lucky the economy stinks otherwise everyone here would be gone!  What a depressing place to work.  Morale is at the lowest point in division history.  There is no cooperation between departments. It’s all about self-preservation; blame someone else before they blame you.  A once great division has now been destroyed.  Everything started to unravel with the change in boundaries and has continued unabated since. Now the latest conversion has done us in; late trucks, shorts, outs and mispicks. All the buyers are new, the vp of operations gave up and left and sales is in disarray. For those of us who worked here in better times it’s a sad thing to see.  Unfortunately there’s more to running a division than a clean office and a checklist.  We all wonder how the region and corporate can sit ideally by and watch the division die.
Hello Corporate is anyone minding the store???"

re:  PFG NORTHCENTER:  "PFG NorthCenter
To the bitter Bill Bolton fan,
Perhaps you should get your facts straight before reporting on a website. What you have stated is not true and if it was …. don’t you have something better to do with your time?
Seems to me you have you own personal vendetta against Bill Bolton.  Why don’t you deal with that on a one on one basis. You seem to be a coward. Big Guy.
Isn’t this website for rumors and thing happening in the food service industry not your personal issues. Why don’t you get over it Big Guy and move on……

A.M./DSM OF THE YEAR:  "I thinks its funny that most of the posts about US Foods come from Ex Sysco/Ex Us Foods people who are now back to being Sysco People. Alan M  you should maybe leave your  house occasionally to ride with your sales people and spend less time bitching at the world. You are one very sad angry little man, now I understand why your kid don’t speak to you any more. It must be tough facing the nick name of “The Snake” from everyone you work with.
PS Great job at Spaghettinis."

re:  7844 SAN DIEGO:  "Ever since Personnel became Human Resources, people are just another source of energy. Discard when depleted. As a long term employee of SER and USF, now retired, myself and fellow senior employee were referred to as "one of them" by the HR department.  Must have upset them that we were all hired by a PERSONNEL department.

re:  USF ALBANY:  "Speed has been to Albany what Obama has been to the country so far.  A a liar, an absolute failure, and train wreck.  Just worry about how it looks and never mind how it really is.  Tell them what we think they want to hear, maybe their whining will go away for a while, and then maybe we can get away with more lies and push our idiotic ideology, listen to more whining, and then it'll go away again.  What the heck, if it hasn't worked yet, maybe we just haven't done enough of it-let's do some more.  Totally insane.
God help US Albany and the United States of America."

re:  LOOKING:  "If you need to get hold of Saul on the weekends you may want to call Darlenes house, she sure knows how to get what she wants from a gullible man. It seems that not only are they glued together at the hip during the week but they are also socializing on the weekends, with the ever present Dawn and Danny O’malley in tow. Amazing what will happen when a guarantee is set to run out! I guess now that Saul has run off all his old “friends” he needs to surround himself with a bunch of yes men or women who will tell him exactly what he wants to hear. Saul have you not learned your lesson?"

re:  WLFSA:  "To borrow from cinema for the WLFSA update: You can’t handle the truth! Ohhhhh the humanity of it! Who are these people? The Head Imbecile continues to stumble, bumble, and fumble. Until the guy is removed there simply cannot be success any longer. Despite the physical footprint growth, you have to actually run a business correctly for it to profit and succeed. Measuring by footprint size does not equate to success! You have to have an accountable business plan, with accountable personnel, actually accountably managing it. The fat woman continues to sing the Imbecile’s praises. “Oh Danny you are the greatest!” And doing huge disservice to the company in the process. Making her most valuable, but at the same time the least accountable! How about those 1100 emails in the old in box? Are you seriously managing anything? Frosty continues to talk a good game to individual high rollers within the WLFSA, but in the end should be running for the Senate as he is capable of talking out of both sides of his mouth simultaneously, and not really saying anything of substance. And as time goes on, any trust built up, has been washed away. Keep defaulting to the Head Imbecile’s point of view Frosty! What actual accountability is there for you? Joey boy continues to personify all things ever written about the Peter Principle, and more. But he’s the Imbecile’s favorite too. And now to the core group of dissenters? The ones who really have the weight to make a difference spend most of their time now arguing about when and how, and slipping further and further away from the goal of the end-game. In fact, truth be told, several of them are now running for the hills fearful that the Head Imbecile himself will finally become aware who is who, and who isn’t. Once the target date slipped past you guys, it could never be the same. Now watch the bunker building begin. Yet two or perhaps three hold out hope that testicular fortitude will in the end, rule the day. Can they get everyone back together? Or do they suffer from too much WLFSA money, and no nads? Meanwhile on the west coast, they are asking, “potatoes anyone?” What? You didn’t consider it? On the east coast they’re asking, “Fish! I don’t need no steenking fish. Do you?” Separately, is anyone keeping score of markets whacked, and markets on probation, by the number of Principals, and the sheer volume of articulated Principal displeasure and threatened flight? It reads like a baseball statisticians dream! How many will it take for the WLFSA to, in the words of the Head Imbecile, “get it?” By the way, anyone noticed how little that term is suddenly NOT being used anymore? How many wrongly positioned people in management (even those acknowledged by the inner sanctum as weak and incapable) who continue driving results downward will it take before those people, who really just aren’t any good, finally get the heave? Oh well. The dog days of summer are passing, and the opportunities are passing by too. So Frosty, keep up the incessant blather, and watch what you say to the wrong people, because it may come back to bite you. And in our frustration, I will add Danny, you should be counting the days, because even if the shareholders can’t re-capture the balls, the board will. Even the ones you think are bought and paid for……..Meanwhile the Principal community will pass another quarter in wonder of it all, asking that boring old, decades old, question about the performance plan for their business. It’s getting harder to hide."

re:  USF SAN DIEGO:  "What’s going on at this division?  Last week they “eliminated” the position of a 30 year employee.  You can’t tell me eliminating a clerical position is going to save the division or that they couldn’t find another position for her.  Everyone but the division president and vp of HR are in disbelief and can’t believe they did this. This was a person who did everything asked of her and more.  And they did it right before she went on vacation…how cold could they be.  30 years and they kick you out the door.  No chance to say good bye, no “retirement”, no respect.  Is there an HR department at the division?  Is there an HR department at the company?  Everyone at the division is speachless.  No one can believe they could treat someone this poorly.  This is the equivalent of “eating your young”.   These people are sick and have no self-respect.  How can these people look themselves in the mirror?  We can only hope, pray and do what we can to see they get what they deserve.  The leason to be learned at this division is NO ONE matters and all the "associate"talk is nothing but BS.  This is why UNIONS exist!  Maybe it's time for the clerical staff to join the Teamsters?  They need protection from these @!! holes."

re:  USF SAN DIEGO:  "There are events and moments which define a person and an organization; times when you get a glimpse into their soul.  Well today was that day and there was NO soul.  Today they “eliminate” the position of a 30 year employee.  Not just any employee, but the poster child of hard work, dedication and company spirit.  The woman possessed a depression era work ethic; never missed a day of work.  Everything she did was in the best interest of the company; she treated the company’s money like it was hers.  She was the division cheerleader; organizing, setting up and cleaning up every company potluck.  And they simply walked her out the door…OMG.  No effort to find another position.  No effort to allow her to retire with dignity, just kick her to the curb.  It all just business…right?  This division has no soul!  The people who did this should be tarred and feathered and run out of town, they should be put in shackles and have rotten fruit thrown at them, they should have their heads shaved and paraded through the streets like a Nazi whore.   This is the lowest, dirtiest and most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen!  Everyone at the division now knows the people they are working for!"

re:  SYSCO VENTURA:  "Looks like Riddlin Ronnie may have opened his big mouth one time two many in the Ventura routing department.  After years of his abuse to his fellow Teamster members who he has been playing favorites and phuck phuck with he has finally show his big mouth and bad attitude to one of the suits from upstairs and reportedly threatened to kick his ass right here on company property.
This comes as no surprise to most of us who work with him because we have been putting up with this type of behavior for years while his boss Dumbmanic, and the HR department does little or nothing while trying to look the other way about this explosive and dangerous employee.
One day he is going to flip out and who knows what's going to happen, but the one things that you can bet on is that Sysco Ventura and the do nothing people in HR are going to be named in a lawsuit for failing to provide a safe work place.
This has been going on for a long time and Sysco, and the deft, dumb, and blind in HR have been breaking the law for failing to deal with this problem correctly, while continuing to put other employees in harms way for failing to do the job of protecting the other employees at our plant.
The problems with Riddlin Ronnie have been well documented in the past and yet he still is allowed to work, and play his evil games here in Ventura.
I guess the model at Sysco Ventura is, if you play ball ( Or Golf in this case ) then you can get away with anything.
It's time to put Riddlin Ronnie out to pasture.

re:  7827/7834/LINC ALBANY -  "LINC is the grown-up version of elementary school busy work. How many DSMs, RBMs and Sales VPs have figured out that 70% (at a minimum) of what's posted on LINC is pure BS. Expecting TMs to log in after each call during the day to write "Showed sample and talked to the chef about giving me an order"  is ridiculous. We barely have enough time during the day to see all our customers. Will Calls, credit issues, late trucks all take time away from selling. LINC steals even more time from what we're supposed to be doing. I think we should ask Oracle for a refund."

re:  7827/LINC ALBANY:  "It's not just Albany.  Most of the senior staff and corporate suits spend more time on theory and oiling each other's butts than on doing the things that raelly grow business.  Their mentality is, "Let's not be concerned with how things really are.  Let's just worry about how they look."  US Foods is a losing organization.  In plain English, it sucks."

re:  7825/ALBANY:  "It's a play with words.  Taggart, Mirarci, Speed, and the rest of the senior management get it.  It has to do with a very special relationship held by Taggart with Speed's approval with a subordinate TM where he placed the company in a BIG liabilty situation and they all knew and didn't give a crap.  Just sweep it under rug and it'll go away just like everything else in this place.

re:  SYSCO BOSTON:  "sysco of boston    Hey pinnocio,  STOP Lying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!       You got rid of the four ten hour schedule in the warehouse, but now the trend is to bring guys in three hours early to try and get the trucks out on time.     All warehouse guys should stop doing management a favor.  Stop coming in early or on vacations,   make them eat it.  Hire enough guys to get the job done.   The trucks are not getting out at four am as you stated in a meeting in December"

re:  SYSCO BOSTON:  "I would like to applaud sysco for getting denied a big tax break with the new building.  The major reason being recent layoffs.  That is what they get for trying to save pennies by laying off people.  In the long haul it cost them millions.  I love it.  Stop messing with the people."

WORLDS LARGEST FOODSERVICE SALES AGENCY:  "Summertime blues at the WLFSA! Head Imbecile now convinced by others within the organization that the guy he thought was responsible for calling a spade a spade, is not actually the guy responsible. Cause for serious libations at night. Now convinced that someone out there who he thought “doesn’t get it” might actually get it after all! The realization was draining! The guy he thought was a bad guy, will always be a shithead, and an arrogant prick, but he is just a little bit above, really just a little tiny bit, above this kind of stuff. Remember that the Head Imbecile, in lieu of logically considering alternatives, defaults to “he doesn’t get it!” as the argument against thinking about things he may not like or agree with. Now he wonders how many more plan to sue. Can it be a consortium of very important dissatisfied stockholders of significant impact (no pun intended), who are ready to strike within 60 days, or is it something more sinister? A handful of influential, and very key, middle management folks from the east coast actively seeking exodus. Meanwhile over on the business side of things, certain large principal personalities, several of whom were never big supporters of the big footprint idea, are beating the drum constantly for change within their own organizations, and to others both within and without the WLFSA organization. That can’t help! When the big guns see each other at shows and conferences, and share notes, then go and tell 20 people about the note sharing, how good can that be? Particularly since the ever-illusive accountability issue is still somewhat fluid within the management of WLFSA. Keep losing those small ones guys, and pretending that it isn’t an epidemic! All those principals who still don’t get it, but keep whacking markets, and threatening probation in others, when they come to the conclusion that nobody is really accountable at WLFSA, aren’t too happy either folks. So the wheels continue to spin, and lots of insiders recognize that the wheels may be coming off. The after 6PM phone calls amongst certain of the management double monthly. Callused ears from too much phone time. Several have taken to using non-business cell phones to eliminate or reduce any potential questions, or the possibility of discovery. That can’t be good! Meanwhile down in Texas, which is being managed differently than things out east (why is that?), despite the company losing a half mil + in the previous quarter, things are becoming clearer, and the head scratching has begun. Wait ‘til the west coast dudes get going. Lookout! At what point will the new corporate motto be force-changed to, “OK, OK! We get it!” Keep your eyes wide, and your ears open people. Things are just starting to get interesting!"

Mamoncillo

Found in the American tropics from Mexico to northern South America and the Caribbean, the mamoncillo is a tree that bears a small, edible fruit with green, leathery skin and a sweet, juicy, translucent pulp. Also known as quenepas, Spanish limes, limoncillos, and ackees, among other names, the fruits are traditionally eaten by cracking the thin layer of skin with the teeth and putting the whole pulp in the mouth. According to Caribbean folk wisdom, what can be learned from eating the fruit? More... Discuss

Iroquois Confederacy Is Formed (1142)

The Iroquois Confederacy is a North American confederation of indigenous peoples, initially comprising the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, and Seneca. A sixth tribe, the Tuscarora, joined later. The league was formed for both defense purposes and to prevent intertribal conflict. Although frequently referred to as the Iroquois, the nations refer to themselves collectively as Haudenosaunee, which means "people of the longhouse." The league's formation is said to have coincided with what event? More... Discuss

Caligula (12 CE)

Caligula was a Roman emperor who began his reign upon the death of the extremely unpopular Tiberius. His reign was initially welcomed, but, shortly after assuming power, he suffered a severe illness that is widely believed to have rendered him insane. He earned a reputation for cruel autocracy, torture, and execution and was finally assassinated by a tribune of the Praetorian Guard. Caligula's real name was Caius Caesar Germanicus. Why was he nicknamed Caligula as a child? More... Discuss

Social Media Use Surges among Older Adults

More and more people ages 50 and older are joining social networks. Over the past year, the number of older adults using sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn has nearly doubled. Ten percent of Internet users over 50, meanwhile, say they use Twitter or other status update services. Most have been introduced to social networking by their children, and many use the sites primarily to keep in touch with family and friends. Unfortunately, because they are new to social networks, older adults are more likely to fall victim to scams. More ... Discuss
