re: USF CORONA - WHAT THE F**K IS GOING ON AT CORONA? How much money did we throw at the idiots we hired from Sysco? Evidently, they interview realy well. They sure fooled Jon and Fred.  Any chance we can correct this mistake before the bosses at KKR/CD&R do it for us?

re:  USF CLEVELAND:  "WOW!  I'm shocked that you're shocked about Mike Eggert being let go in Cleveland. PLEASE, it should have happened long before the Greeniemen came here. Let's take a moment and define talent and dedication:
Webster describes Talent as: A special often athletic, creative aptitude Webster describes Dedication as: Self-sacrificing devotion
Not sure if either of Mr. Webster's descriptions is truly Mike Eggert.
Now let's talk about hard-working Mike Eggert (Begin day at 9 am, end day at 2:30 pm, don't answer or respond to phone calls?)  Yep, that's hard working Mike Eggert.   I have worked for Mike for quite a long time, in fact he even hired me, yet I am challenged to defend his firing to my co-workers.
As far as Eggert teaming up with Marzich, not sure if Marzich's back is strong enough to carry Mike. After all Marzich did carry Eggert for five years before he left to go to Hillcrest.
SIGNED: Can't defend him anymore "

re:  BOSTON SYSCO:  "Where is Boston Sysco located....No such thing, Hallsmith-Sysco is what its called, Get it right for our competition will ya ( DER ). Your complaining cause some of you still have a job in todays economy....You don't have a clue on whats going on today do you. ( moron ). Yes, to many over paid clerks....Nevo, wiggie, titus....and so on...and so on. As for Meaghan doing everyone, It wasen't that great. You sound like another sysco scab, who did not want the union in when we had the chance. So stop your Bitch'en & go sweep the floors. "

re:  L.A. SALES MEETING:  "Dear Dan and Saul, thanks for the real inspiring “talk” at fridays sales meeting. Your explanaition of why you layed off so many of our “team mates” was so touching. So sorry we only make $1.65 a case and so sorry that we only made $7 million dollars last month, its so obvious why we have to lay people off its just about you bonus isn’t it. For Gods sake can you sleep at night knowing that you have destroyed not only the best food sales company in the industry but have also ruined the lives of so many people that you “had to lay off” because you only made 7 million profit last month. How much of that 7 million came from cutting all our promos and trips. You guys represent everything that is wrong in business today, you are greedy and self serving. Hopefully the axe will fall on you and we will get some real leadership plus cut our expenses by millions . Maybe the “new sysco” will weed out the dinosaurs like you and bring in leaders that really care, lead by example and that can  motivate or inspire people. Please corporate stand behind your new tag line and “make good things come from sysco” Saul your verbal threat that your  “gonna come after” those of us who don’t perform was so motivating, whose “gonna come after you” when you never follow up on your empty promises to our customers? Who is gonna come after you when you never call back? Who is “gonna come after you” when you spend all your time during your dumb one on ones checking your stocks and talking on the phone while not listening to the conversation that YOU  think is going to turn our sales around. Sign me OBAMA’s #1FAN ( yes Dan some of us do support him and your off handed remarks about our newly elected president were in very bad taste.) "

re:  USF ALBANY:  "USF Albany--think about it.  For the last few years, Speed and Dragon Lady have been cutting people when business was pretty good and save his way to GP plan.  Now business is getting bad and he can't cut anymore because everybody is so stretched out.  He's lost at least two great accounts volume wise and profit wise, the Sagamore and Skidmore, and they were very low maintenance accounts.  Now he needs to match that business with lower margins but more man hours.  What are you going to do Bill?  What are you going to do Kim?  What are you going to do Debbie when the DSO's go up, up, and up?"

re:  USF CORONA:  "Dear Tom, Nick, Neil, Mario, Dave and Gomory. Well how did that feel today? Hasta la vista my friends! 6 mill today and I can promise you this we will take 5 times that in the next 60 days. Nick you had better get your face out of the booze bottle and get your resume together, we have you in our cross hairs and your all going to crash and burn real soon. Pay backs baby! we are going to give you guys a good ass kicking, thanks Jon you’re expensive A team has been so easy to dismantle. More to come!"

re:  BOB VASTA:  "Hey, Nick, Bob, Mario or Dave L, shut the F up and go have another Jack and coke. Your stupid attempts to discredit Bob V are so obvious and quite funny. Fact is this guy has done more for SYSCO LA than you guys ever did. Nick you know you made a big mistake so just accept it like a man and spruce up your empty resume. You will be gone the day your guarantee ends. Is the Beer company hiring?  If they are take that blubbering paper pushing idiot Gomery with you. How does it feel to know that your loyalty to that bumbling idiot cost you a lucrative sysco pension plan and all that stock? Fact is Bob Vasta has been kicking the crap out of you guys and your panicking because you guys fell flat on your face, you have done NOTHING! SYSCO Food Services of Los Angeles has never been a better place to work and its because we got rid of the Red Neck Mafia. We will have a nice present for you real soon, Hugs and Kisses

re:  USF BOSTON:  "Re: USF BOSTON: Hey, SOX FAN, here's a new concept for you. Why don't you grow a pair and just SAY what you want to John to his face? You seem to be someone who would rather just put someone else down in order to make yourself look good.  But you don't make yourself look good. You make yourself look like a pathetic coward. If you want to make a change, say something -- and say it TACTFULLY -- to the person who is in the best position to make the change you're looking for.  Being anonymous and posting on a site he probably doesn't even read (because he's too busy doing his job) does you no good. If it's the trainer's e-mail that is the problem, why aren't you telling the trainer himself to change his wording? And if it's certain TMs' and inside people's Audix messages that are sticking in your craw, why don't you say something to them directly? Do you really think John's going to just going to drop everything he's doing just to walk down the hall and stand there drumming his fingers and waiting for someone to change their Audix message ust because YOU don't like the wording? Not gonna happen. And if he did, I'm sure you'd just complain about how he's too busy micromanaging others to do his own job. Grow up and quit your whining. Or do us all a huge favor and go work for another company that doesn't mind sour grapes and back-stabbing.

re:  CENTRAL COAST FS:  "Ok folks. The economy is in the tank and everyone wants to know. Who on the Central Coast is going to survive this mess? Souza Foods has been very quiet lately. Are they putting together a game plan that leaves them the lone standing independent from Santa Maria to Paso Robles? Don’t bet against them, they have been around a long time. What about Kaney Foods? Their leader is a egomaniac with some serious issues, but they have been around a long time and offer products and services others can’t. Can they overcome the lack of sound leadership and dumb decisions? Speaking of dumb and dumber, how about Sysco Ventura? Will Houston let these clowns continue to embarrass a once proud corporation with a history of success being destroyed by one poorly run distribution center? Maybe they’ll send it all back to Walnut and pretend this little experiment never happened. And guess who’s waiting in Santa Barbara for it all to implode right into their lap? We are taking bets and the odds are that somebody will have to go. Who is it going to be? Souza, Kaney, Sysco Ventura? "

re: 5801:  "Thanks for the good words. As of Nov. 2, 2008 top pay will be $ 22.30 an hour with $ 4.07 going into our pension up to 40 hours a week. As for the abc program, yes we have it, but its not to bad. The way it works is you get whatever the larger amount for the week is abc  or overtime so you can't lose. But the management has been screwing with drivers case counts saying premium stops aren't and making them regular stops. Supposedly there is so list that the clerk has that is from 2006. What year is it? Also the letter of agreement is in the contract, so we have it for the next five years. That's it, has anyone heard of any layoffs at Sysco LA and could you tell us about them.

Irv Mills

Longtime Sonoman Irv Mills died last Thursday in Sonoma.

Mills, 88, was well known as an astute board-watcher at the Sonoma City Council meetings and the Board of Supervisors meetings, as well as many other civic gatherings where local issues were always foremost in his mind. He was also an avid letter writer as readers of the Index-Tribune's Pulse of the Public can attest.

"He's been a mentor and friend of mine for 25 years," said 1st District Supervisor Valerie Brown. "Irv was the interim executive director of the Sonoma Valley Chamber of Commerce when I was president of the chamber." She added that Mills was an excellent example of a citizen who got involved in his community. "His strongest message was that people need to have civic responsibility."

Former City Manager Pam Gibson said Mills was very free with his advice and she also looked at him as somewhat of a mentor. "He never cared whether you took his advice or not but he wanted to give his opinion, and generally he had some very sound things to say."

Gibson said Mills was the first person to send her a note of congratulations when she was hired to be Sonoma's city manager. "In spring of 1995, he tracked me down in San Juan Capistrano and somehow got my address. I was astonished!"

Mills was born on April 17, 1920, in Connecticut. At 22, and newly married to his wife, Joan, he joined the United States Air Force in 1942. In 1943, he was a tail-gunner on a bomber sent to destroy a German factory in Schweinfurt when, before the plane released even one bomb, it was hit by enemy fire. Mills bailed out or was thrown out of the plane when it exploded. He parachuted into enemy territory and was captured, seriously injured.

He then spent two years in the prison camp Stalag 17, made famous by the 1953 movie of the same name. While incarcerated, Mills taught American history to his fellow prisoners using a textbook that had been smuggled into the camp. "You have to find ways to amuse yourself so you don't go bonkers," Mills told an I-T reporter in an interview for a story run last June.

Mills was released in May of 1945, when the Germans holding the captives surrendered to the Americans. And to the surprise of no one who knew him, he had written a journal about his time in captivity and titled it simply "My Wartime Log."

Following the war, he ran a successful china manufacturing company as well as a food-service design and engineering firm. He also owned several restaurants and served as a food and hospitality industry consultant. Upon moving to Sonoma in 1976, Mills, a self-described "political junkie" was active in a number of civic committees.

Mills prepared himself for his death by writing his own obituary.

"I would have expected him to do that, he was well prepared and he was absolutely in control," said Brown, who added, sadly, "What a loss of a fine man."

We will be meeting somewhere in the Atlanta area during that dead week between Christmas and New Years.  We are still looking for a cheap room because, well, that was our reputation.  One suggested sight may be the Holiday Inn at the Cartersville exit.  Many of us old guys have some fond memories about that place.  Especially the dinning experience at the on-sight Denny's.
If we are lucky, maybe Big Jim will let us come to Rome and use his barn.  But I'm not counting on it! Just who is invited to this shin-dig?  I will put it this way, if you would consider pulling Ken C. from Rockmart out of a burning building, don't bother showing up!  We don't want any of your kind at this event.
Please RSVP directly to me using the secret "Beef, Pork, Chicken" hot line.

re:  SMALL DISTRIBUTOR/LEDYARD:  "Their name is Ledyard, not tard. They're a dysfunctional bunch that is for sure but they do function. They're definitely on the fringe of the mainstream distribution community but they can afford to be because of their location. This is and always will be their downfall. Because of their insulated location, management has and most likely will continue to operate contrary to practical business sales operational standards (Lil' Hitler, BTW is very proficient. JC is (very) good at what he does and is fair. You don't have to like him but can not deny the respect he deserves for his job performance. He's good, but takes an abnormal liking to the hatchet man duties the owner gives him, hence the moniker Lil' Hitler) .
They have systematically pushed out some of the best food service personnel the state of California has seen in years most of which (today, now, or have in the past) work for Birite Foodservice in San Francisco. They once had a Equipment and Design division that was only rivaled by Rykoff in Daly City but pissed that away. They had two very successful "Cash n' Carry" operations but did the same, pissed them away. A lack of vision and short sighted management decisions coupled with a  lack of a sound understanding of current distribution practices is their down fall. During a short time in the mid 1990's the company flourished while direct family involvement was void of their day to day operations. But alas, individual hubris got in the way with the  the passing of the family patriarch. The wake left by his son was one that is still being felt in that pond (as it were) to this day.
Ledyard, for shiny as a gem it's capable of being, is continually tarnished by the short sightedness and inept temper of its senior management. You know what they say? A family owned and operated business is just as dysfunctional as the family that owns and operates it. Good Luck, Ledyard, but be aware that you have burned way too many people to be seen as a company in our business that can be held in high regard. You need to let go and just finally sell the operation to some one that actually has a true passion for the business and actually cares abouts its employees. You're also the grave yard for those that have a little steam left in their engines but have worn out their welcome among the elite distributors in the Bay Area. Just s VP of sales and he's the owners nephew whom everyone dislikes and their DP's last job was managing a restaurant who's rumored to be a real loose cannon, power hungry, "I'll make you pay..." type. the bay area broker community says they're the laughing stock of all bay area distributors. WTF happened to independant distributors here in the greater bay area? Seems Birite is the only  professionally run operation of any integrity left out her in NorCal. anyway this "tard" organization is run by their computer guy who also acts as their finacial controller, a Vp of Opps whose nickname I hear is "lil hitler" and this VP of sales....and that's it. WTF has happend to independant distributors here in the BA>>>>we know Ritz is on the outs...any one of the "tard" family want to respond?

re:  5786:  "Incompetence isn't even the word for it.  What goes thru their mind when they hire and promote?  Saving money?  Maybe hiring someone that will look so bad that they can point to and say that at least there's someone worse than them?  Real nice place to work at.  Speed, Mirarchi, Holcomb, Cooper:  it is time you moved on and contaminated somewhere else."

re:  USF ALBANY:  "Funny thing about Speed and Dragon Lady and Cooper, etc is that when they are let go, they will be given big severance packages (especially Speed) despite the crappy and stupid job performance.  In fact,  I wouldn't doubt that Speed would be given a bigger, better paying job someplace so he can screw things up worse someplace else.   What a joke.  When does a guy like learn that he is the Problem and not everyone else."

re:  5783:  "There's a guy that sweeps the floors, empties the trash cans and uses better judgement than Speed.  He gets the job done and does it well.  A role reversal would be nice except that with Speed the trash may never make it to where it needs to go because he's useless and we wouldn't want to lose a good janitor over it. re:  USF ALBANY:  "Bob Aiken, did you ask any tought questions at US Albany?  I mean real tough like, what the hell are you guys doing?  Why is it that good senior people get let go when it's crunch time for numbers?  Why can't procurement get anything right?  Why is it that pads keep going up while we lose more customers and business?  That's like the chicken and the egg question.  How about some of you big shots coming in to Albany and asking the people who actually work what's going on?  What do you think you're going to get from the accomplices in upper management???????????????  It's a country club!!!!!!!!

re:  FLORIDA BROKERS:  "As a DSR in the Sunshine State of Florida it is hard to get a broker to follow through with anything.Just want to give props to the exception to the rule, Manny Martinez with C and G Food Brokerage. Manny follows through like a true professional and is a welcome relief from the low level of support that is the norm here.I wish Manny all the best and wish there were more broker reps like him.

re:  USF ALBANY:  "I have worked for both companies in the past ten years or so and have found both human resources Managers to be very unethical. Kim Mirachi for US Foods and Lynn Lott for Sysco Albany have violated just about every ethical rule in the hand book. Both have taken confidential information and passed it on to some of the other executive staff members. Anyone who has had passed experiences should forward the information on to this website for starters."

#3 he throws his complimentary beer cups on the floor
#2 he was at a pizza party at mike m house
